James Trevelyan grew up in the Midlands and lives in Birmingham. He has an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway. His poems have appeared in various print and online magazines, and in anthologies including Best New British & Irish Poets 2017.
His debut pamphlet of poetry DISSOLVE to: L.A. was published by the Emma Press in March 2016.
He is currently writing for theatre and his debut playscript We go again has been longlisted for the Finborough Theatre’s ETPEP Award 2021 & the 2022 Bruntwood Prize. In 2024, the play received a research & development bursary from In Good Company. His monologue Chase is currently in R&D with a Project Grant from Arts Council England.
Between 2023-2026, he worked as the Director of Birmingham publisher the Emma Press. He is currently Artistic Director of the Poetry School and a freelance arts producer.
