Following 5 years working at Arts Council England providing advice to artists and organisations, James now has over 3 years experience as a Freelance Producer and Company Director in the arts & culture sector. He regularly writes successful funding applications for projects across literature, music, theatre and visual arts, and supports project management and reporting.
He has significant experience in arts management and strategy having been Director of publisher the Emma Press from 2023-2026. In 2026, he will be maternity cover Artistic Director (Co-CEO) of the Poetry School.
While working on a wide range of projects, he has a particular passion for place-based work in the West Midlands and innovative literature projects. Most recently he has co-produced STORIE with Voce Books.
